Using large, fancy words and long sentences risks losing the audience’s attention. People have busy lives and can’t spend so much time reading unnecessary sentences. Good websites typically follow an F-shaped line of action. A line of action, in simple terms, is the path you eyes follow when looking at any particular thing. The natural reading style for western countries is the z-shape pattern, reading left to right and then starting again at the left side of the next line. The F-shaped line of action breaks the pattern up using filler space such as negative space or images. Negative space, also known as white space, is just space that doesn’t have any text or imagery in it. This is a great pattern to use since it integrates with our natural reading style and is simple to follow.
